Child Development Center Assistant Director

|Description:||Responsible for upholding Lakeview Village Child Development Center’s educational and program philosophies and goals, for forming appropriate relationships with staff and families, guidance of the children, and with the overall management of the whatever classroom they are assigned to and other children. Assist the Director in meeting the vision of the Child Development Center and Shared Site Intergenerational Program. Provide a warm, nurturing environment where families are loved and welcomed. Provide oversight of the direction and operation of the Child Development Center and on-site intergenerational program activities, which involve young children and residents in the Director’s absence.|
Monday thru Friday, varying hours between 6am and 6pm
|Duties:||•Provide administrative support to the Director as related to the day-to-day operation of the Child Development Center (deposit, scheduling, paperwork, marketing, etc.).|
•Supervise, manage and direct all staff employed in the Child Development Center in the Director’s absence.
•Assist the Director in the day to day operations of the Child Development Center.
•Must understand and adhere to all health, safety and licensing requirements of Lakeview Village; Local, State and Federal jurisdictions.
•Must meet all state licensing requirements for employment as Assistant Director in a state-licensed facility.
•Handle parent and child concerns and follow up with Director as needed.
•Work on special projects as assigned by the Director.
•Provide classroom coverage as needed and requested by the Director.
|Qualifications:||•In accordance with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, this position, as an Assistant Director, shall be at least 18 years of age.|
•Must have already obtained or be pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development or working toward one. Will accept a degree in a related field with at least 12 credit hours in child development or early childhood education.
•Early childhood teaching experience in a licensed classroom is required.
•Prior to beginning work or within 30 days of hire date, current certification for CPR and First Aid (renewed every two years).
•Proficient in computer use and technology.
•Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children.
