Float Teacher/Admin Assistant

Description:Responsible for upholding Lakeview Village Child Development Center’s educational and program philosophies and goals, for forming appropriate relationships with staff and families, guidance of the children, and with the overall management of the whatever classroom they are assigned to and other children. Assist the Director in meeting the vision of the Child Development Center and Shared Site Intergenerational Program. Provide a warm, nurturing environment where families are loved and welcomed.

We expect the Floater Teacher/Administrative Assistant to be educated, kind, loving, fun, professional and creative. Floater Teachers should instill a love of learning in their children/students, and focus on helping each individual child/student learn at his or her own pace. Floater Teachers should be reliable, independent and versatile, as Floater Teachers are expected to work in all classrooms. As the Administrative Assistant, provide administrative support to the Director as needed.
Duties:•Provide administrative support to the Director as related to the day-to-day operation of the Child Development Center (deposit, scheduling, paperwork, marketing, etc.)
•Relay messages from parents to the appropriate person.
•Ensure that the CDC is performing within the guidelines of the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment staffing ratios.
•Handle parent and child concerns and follow up with Director as needed.
•Work on special projects as assigned by the Director.
•Provide a classroom which meets the emotional, social, spiritual, physical and intellectual needs of the individual child and the group as a whole.
Qualifications:•In accordance with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, this position, as a Floater Teacher, shall be at least 18 years of age.
•Minimum of High School Diploma or its equivalent.
•Early childhood teaching experience in a licensed classroom is required.
•A minimum of twelve college hours in Early Childhood, Associates Degree in Early Childhood, CDA, or BA in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
•Prior to beginning work or within 30 days of hire date, current certification for CPR and First Aid (renewed every two years), and certificates of attendance in classes for Child Abuse and Neglect and Signs and Symptoms of Illness and ABC Safe Sleep Certificate must be obtained.
